Ash Wednesday Worship

Ash Wednesday marks the start of the season of Lent. Lent is a time when we prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. The practice of repentance and mourning in ashes is found in 2 Samuel 13:19; Ester 4:1, Job 2:8; Daniel 9:3; and Matthew 11:21, and forms the Biblical foundation for our practice of lightly rubbing palm ash on the foreheads of worshipers on Ash Wednesday.

In collaboration with the other Brookville area United Methodist Churches, we are offering four identical Ash Wednesday Services. Choose hte time and location most convenient for you, and "drop in" at any time time during the specified hour.

7:00 to 8:00 a.m. at Brookville First

12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Brookville Community

5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Antioch

7:00 to 8:00 at Pyrmont

Our home cooked dinner features your choice of ham and beans with cornbread or chicken and noodles. This includes your choice of assorted salads and a choice of home baked pie or cake, with drink and bread.

In order to ensure the success of this event, we need volunteers to help work. If you want to volunteer, call the church office, talk to any member of the Circle or just come to the kitchen Saturday night of the spring dinner. If you are unable to work, please come and enjoy the fellowship and good old fashion home cooking. We always need donations of salad, pies, and cakes for the dinner. They will be greatly appreciated. We hope to see you Saturday, February 25, 2012!
